Bob Mackin - President and CEO, Mackin & Company

Bob Mackin - Founder, Mackin and CompanyBob Mackin is president and CEO of Mackin & Company, which he founded in 1985.

Bob has represented clients before legislators and regulators in New York, California, Florida, and other states; before the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the National Conference of Insurance Legislators, and the National Conference of State Legislatures; and before Congress and the Treasury.

Bob fostered the growth of the Association of Financial Guaranty Insurers (AFGI), the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), the Industry Education Council to NCOIL (IEC), the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS), the Insurance Legislators Foundation, and the NCLGS Foundation.

Prior to founding Mackin & Company, Bob was active in journalism and public affairs.

Bob served as Director of Public Affairs for the New York State Urban Development Corporation (UDC), reporting directly to UDC President Edward J. Logue. Bob authored and produced UDC annual reports. He headed public affairs efforts on such projects as Ten Eyck in Albany, Roosevelt Island in New York City, State Farm offices near Glens Falls, the Schlitz Brewery in Radisson, and the Buffalo Bills Stadium in Orchard Park.

Bob also handled the media relative to several successful UDC bond issues.

Bob is a former Associate Editor of Parade, the Sunday newspaper magazine supplement. He authored more than 75 articles appearing in the New York Times, Newsweek, TV Guide, New York Newsday, the NY Sunday News, Parade, Best Review, Business Insurance, the National Underwriter, the Journal of Commerce, the Journal of American Education and the Journal of Insurance Regulation.

More recently, Bob has published articles in Business Insurance, Property/Casualty Insurance, and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Bob's career has also included several tours of duty in government and politics. Bob served at different times as Assistant State Insurance Commissioner in California, Executive Assistant to the New York State Superintendent of Insurance, Staff Director of the New York Senate Insurance Committee, and campaign press secretary to U.S. Senator James L. Buckley. He began his career as a press aide to the New York State Attorney General Louis J. Lefkowitz. He also spent time as Director of Public Affairs for the New York Urban Development Corporation.

As a political consultant, he compiled a won-lost record of 18-1 in New York statewide races for Attorney General and U.S. Senate.

Bob holds a Master's degree in communication from Fordham University Graduate School and a Bachelor's from Fordham College.

At Fordham, Bob lettered in Track & Field for three consecutive years. In his Junior year at Brooklyn Preparatory School, Bob was a finalist in the quarter mile in the U.S. indoor preparatory school championship.
